Mentor Mornings: Taking Action When Your Business Dries Up

It’s pretty normal for work to ebb and flow, especially if you work for yourself. That’s just something independent workers need to get comfortable with. The problem is when we get too comfortable. We tell ourselves we can wait out the latest down-cycle, we spend a little more time on hobbies or other activities that don’t bring in revenue. What we’re really doing, though, is procrastinating. We deny our situation to protect ourselves from the anxiety.

What we need to do is act. Now. And that means we have to get at the deeper emotions. I go into more detail in my latest column in Fast Company What to Do When Your Client Base Starts Drying Up.

How are you taking action? That’s our discussion at this week’s Mentor Mornings. Please come prepared to share your 2-minute story. It can be a success, failure, or something you haven’t quite figured out yet.

This week, we’re meeting at SVC Seattle in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood.

This event is sold out. To get on the waiting list, please email us.
